That particular message doesn't come through to me at all. The director said it's meant to be a parody of political correctness in Serbian cinema. And I think there is, but I also think that message gets somewhat muddied by the film's reputation.
The real question is whether it's just shocking for the sake of being shocking or if there's actually some meaning or artistic merit beneath it.
If you're a connoisseur of extreme horror, though, it's also one of those films you probably should see purely because of its reputation. That's certainly why it's so controversial, and it's why I can't recommend it to most audiences. What about the film itself? Well, it's certainly extreme and it's profoundly uncomfortable to watch. As of January 2021, however, Unearthed Films has put the uncut edition back on the market, so if you do decide to watch this film, that's probably the edition you want to get (that's the edition on which I'm writing this review, though I know Amazon often collects all the reviews of a single title on the same page).
For a long time, that's been out of production and you've had to pay what I consider to be outrageous prices on the secondary market. If you do get a copy of this film, one assumes you want the uncut and uncensored version. Let me first discuss the various editions.

It's difficult to know how to rate this film because it's so controversial, has gone through so many editions, has such a long history of censorship, and is intentionally uncomfortable to watch.
